North Carolina's Outer Banks

In the Outer Banks of North Carolina, the focus is squarely on the beaches.

Since the 1830s, visitors from all over the United States have flocked

the narrow sand islands known for their miles of magnificent beaches.

More than 100 miles long, these barrier islands have been welcoming families

their campgrounds and luxurious resorts every summer for decades.

Nags Head, Kitty Hawk (with the Wright Brothers Memorial), Duck, Waves,

the settlements on Hatteras Island are all off-the-beach cities with interesting histories.

In addition to being home to some of America's most recognisable landmarks, the Outer Banks are also replete

with lighthouses that welcome visitors for climbs to their observation decks.
