The unique garden design of the fort is something which inspired the construction of several other gardens across the state and also in other regions. Initially the fort was also called as the blessed fort but due to the red sand stone huge walls which make the fort look unique in its own way with the red colour spread throughout the exterior of the fort it is now famously know as the red fort. The fort was also before known as the Quila-e-Mubarak and was a part of the medieval city of Shahjahanabad.
