Meghamalai

Locally known as “High, wavy mountains”, it is a mountain range in Madurai. The dense forest was filled with lush and fragrant tea, cinnamon, pepper, cardamom and waterfalls. Green meadows and wildflower patches surround the mountain. It is a beautiful and rugged sliding deep forest located at the local wildlife sanctuary. It is the home for hundreds of exotic bird species like spotted doves, blue robins and the great Indian hornbill. The other side of the mountain houses the leopards, Indian gaurs, elephants and tigers. Suruli and Meghamalai waterfalls originate here. Manalar,Thekkady and Vanniar dams start from here. Thirumalai Nayakkar Mahal

It is a popular tourist place in Madurai. It is originally the residence of King Thirumalai Nayak. It is built with the culmination of Dravidian and Islamic style of architecture. Vaigai Dam

The dam was located seventy kilometres away from Madurai. It is the magnificent dam that leads a pathway to the majestic Vaigai river. The dam is an awful gift of mother nature to the people of Madurai, Theni and Dindigul. It has provided a source of occupation for several delta families. Little Brindavan is the lovely little garden situated neighbouring the dam to welcome the tourists. A musical fountain was arranged near that cherishes only on weekends and public holidays. Azhagar Kovil

Located twenty-one kilometres away from Madurai, it is one of the most visited temples of the city. Apart from the religious significance, the temple also had an architectural marvel. It exposes the early forms and styles of the Sangam age. The temple is for the worship of Lord Vishnu. Fine, exquisite carvings fill the temple walls, and several mandapams were housed here. Samanar Hills
