Laxman Jhula

One of the most famous places in Rishikesh is the Laxman Jhula. It is a 450-feet long suspension bridge with a height of 70 feet from the river. It was built in the year 1939. The Jhula is a really significant attraction because as per mythological beliefs, it is the same place where Lord Laxman crossed the Ganga River on a jute rope. Also, you will find plenty of cafes on both sides of the bridge. The famous places you should surely visit, are Laxman Temple and Tera Manzil Mandir. These places are even situated nearby.

Ram Jhula

Ram Jhula is a few miles downstream from Laxman Jhula. It is quite similar in structure and construction. It is believed that this suspension bridge was built in 1980. As you would be crossing this bridge, you will see the Himalayas peeking out of clouds on clear days. The Ganga River gushes down in the full flow. You shouldn’t miss this spectacular view when visiting Rishikesh. The bridge is also very known for linking two popular ashrams of Rishikesh. The ashrams are Swarg Ashram on one end and the Sivananda Ashram on the other end. The bridge is about 450 feet long. It offers breathtaking and unbelievable views of valleys and the temples around.

Shri Bharat Mandir

Shri Bharat Mandir is one of the oldest and most visited temples in the entire city. This mandir is completely dedicated to Lord Hrishikesh Narayan. This glorious temple has a lot of mythological stories behind it. It is believed that the Pandavas, on their way to heaven, stayed at this temple and worshipped the Lord. Another belief states that at one point when Lord Buddha visited the temple he converted it into a monastery for a few years. Do visit this temple to know its exciting history.

Triveni Ghat

In Rishikesh, it is one of the most popular ghats. It is a beautiful place to watch the evening Ganga Aarti. The peacefulness of the Ghat is because of the confluence of three major rivers – Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. The ghat is considered to be very sacred. According to Hindu Mythology, it is believed that a dip in the holy water of Ganga near the ghat can get you rid of all your sins. This ghat is even mentioned in the holy books of India.
