Borasu Pass Trek

If you are in the mood for an exciting journey, then going on this hike to Borasu Pass may be just what the doctor ordered. Take into account, however, that it is a challenging and lengthy journey. It has a wide variety of environments, some of which may demand you to utilize crampons and ice axes, glissade down sheer cliffs, endure the windiest campsites, and wade across active rivers in order to safely traverse them. This uncharted path is located on the frontier between Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, not far from Tibet, and has seen very little human traffic.

A high mountain pass known as Borasu Pass or Bara-su is situated on the boundary between the Indian states of Uttaranchal and Himachal Pradesh, close to the border with Tibet. The Har ki Dun valley and the Kinnaur valley used to be connected by this old trading route. However, locals do not go there anymore; instead, hikers and mountain climbers exploit it as an opportunity for adventure.

The hike begins in Taluka and travels through the Har ki Dun valley, which is known for its verdant landscape. A hanging valley in the Garhwal Himalayas, Har ki Dun is encircled on all sides by towering mountains of the Himalayas and lush woods that are teeming with vibrant birds and other forms of wildlife. The raucous Har ki Dun Ganga is where the journey begins, and the mighty Baspa River is where it concludes. In the vicinity of Har ki Dun Ganga, one can either go camping or stay in the Forest Rest House. In addition, camping is possible close to the breathtaking glacier lake at Maninda Tal, which is just a few kilometers away from Har ki Dun.

The path travels via boulder fields, glacial moraine, steep and narrow hills, and sheer vertical snow slopes. Overall, it is a challenging hike that takes you through breathtaking scenery, including thick forests and expansive meadows, which are interspersed with gushing rivers and extensive glaciers, and from which you can see snow-capped summits and enormous stones.
