The most promising tourists attractions on the religious city of Dwarka

Chardhams are the four pilgrimage sites which are considered to be very holy and sacred among the Hindus and the religious city of Dwarka is one among them. The city’s name indicate gateway and is considered to be the first capital of Gujarat. With the rich historical significance, the city is also known as city of Lord Krishna and there are many temples constructed here which are visited by n number of tourists who are all of different religion and caste but do make a visit here to explore the beauty of Dwarka.

  1. The Dwarkadhish temple– The famous Hindu shrine is dedicated for the Lord Krishna and is a famous pilgrimage site. The temple is a five storied building and was constructed in 15th to 16th century. The temple is located at an elevation 12.19 metres above the sea level and it is considered that Lord Krishna’s grandson Vajranabha initially constructed it. But later the entire place was destroyed by Mahmud Begada and later again the temple was built. The main temple is supposed to be built around 2000 years before as per the archaeological findings found here.
  2. Beyt Island– Also famously known as Bet Dwarka the beautiful island is located in a breath-taking location near the Gulf of Kutch and has some of the well built and maintained temples. The white clear sand of the beach with clear water attracts many tourists who are on a trip to relax. There are several sporty activates are organised in the beach and along with that tourists can enjoy camping at the beach side too. There are several dolphins spotted here and the place is a perfect place to have a picnic on a nice sunny day. It is also believed that this is the place where Lord Krishna exchanged the bags of rice with friend Sudama and thus the place has a rich historical religious significance too.
  3. The Nageshwar Temple– It is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas found in India and the temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Many devotees come here to worship and it is hugely believed that if you worship this temple you will become free from any deadly poisons or snake bites. The south facing Nageshwar Linga is around 80 feet tall and is completely made of stone. It is renownedly known as Dwarka Shila and the temple is the first of all the 12 Jyotirlingas in India. During the time of Maha Shivratri the temple is almost completely packed with devotees from around the world.
  4. Gopi Talav (lake)– The talav is famous for the legend that has been around from thousands of years. As per it, the lake is present since Lord Krishna was a child and he used to come here very often. Lord Krishna used to perform here for all the ladies here and Gopi means ladies so this is the place where he danced “raas” and spent most of his time. Also, it is said that many Gopis performed the dance lastly with Krishna here and later merged with the soil here.
