The Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park

The Cellular Jail
The famous place is also known as Kala Pani and it actually used to be an old colonial prison. The prison was constructed by the Britishers during their colonial rule and many huge Indian political prisoners were captured here. Many freedom fighters such as Batukeshwar Dutt, Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, and Yogendra Shukla were held here. You can get a glimpse of history, especially during the British rule here. The jail complex reminds us of the struggles that the Indian freedom fighters went through for the independence of the country.
