The Gateway of India
One of the highly visited tourist spots on India is the
gateway of India near the Arabian Sea. It was built in the year 1924 by architect
George Wittet. The construction took place to commemorate the visit of King
George V and Queen Mary to Mumbai and to date its beauty didn’t fade at all.
You can take the ferry rides from here to visit the famous Elephanta Caves. The
famous architecture of the gateway and the use of yellow basalt makes it look
spectacular.
The Elephanta Caves
These caves which traces to Medieval period is one of the
most ancient artworks found in the country. You have to take ferry rides to visit
the caves and the temples located here are well praised for their unique
architecture. These temples dates back to 5th to 7th centuries and are filled
with intricate carvings. Most of these are dedicated to Lord Shiva and the rest of
the caves are dedicated to Hinduism and Buddhism. These caves are famous for
several sculptures including the Ardhnareshwar, which represents Lord Shiva
and Goddess Parvati in one body.
The Juhu beach
Being the longest beach in the city, it is a must to visit spot if
you love street food. With many food stalls and huge restaurants found here,
the beach is popular choice for having a good picnic. Juhu is one of the richest
areas in the city where many Bollywood celebrities reside. Also, the beach is a
very famous film shooting spot. There is an ISKCON Temple which is highly
visited by worshippers from around the globe. The beautiful scenery that the
place offers with so much liveliness is what loved here.
The Prince of Wales Museum
The astounding museum is famous for its majestic
architecture and is no known as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalay.
This splendid museum is a combination of Indian, Mughal and British
architectural styles. There are many galleries and around 50,000 artefacts which
gives us the glimpse of rich history of the country. Being one of the largest
museums found here, it is filled with ancient artworks and sculptures that will
leave you completely awe-struck. The museum has been preserving the culture
and history of the country for so long and thus is one of the prominent tourist
spots.
