The astounding palace was built by Sultan Muhammed Shah Aga Khan III. Being a historical landmark, it was constructed back in the year 1892 and is the site where Mahatma Gandhi, his wife Kasturba Gandhi, as well as Sarojini Naidu and Mahadev Desai were captured and imprisoned. The Palace covers an area of 19 acres and it holds a many belonging that belonged to famous national leaders along with huge paintings found here. The fort is very beautiful and an awe-striking site which indeed looks glorious. As per the legends on a full moon night the fort is haunted by the ghost of a former Peshwa king Narayanrao. The King was in this place by his aunt and uncle - Anandi and Raghunathrao. Thus, it is historically very important.
