Taking your first solo trip: a how-to guide

How to Approach Solo Travel

Taking off on your own can seem intimidating, daunting, and scary at first. A solo trip can be empowering, and it helps you become more comfortable with your skin. Take photos, explore and eat alone (you can keep your pizza all to yourself). The rest of your life abounds with YOU, so enjoy it.
You will feel more confident traveling alone. Although people who care about you may not be in favor, it is not harmful. Please do what you would not do at home and be aware of your surroundings! You’ll never regret traveling solo.

Decide on a destination first and start small.

It is intimidating to consider traveling alone. If it completely frightens you, start small and work your way up. Visiting the colorful states is a lot of fun because it’s full of different places, from small towns and beaches to big cities and canyons! There is no limit to what you can do! Your home country might be your destination for a week or a weekend.
You could fly somewhere for a weekend to ease yourself into solo traveling. Get on a bike ride on the mesmerizing road of Leh Ladhak and explore the person of paths within you. Goa is a great place to see concerts, gamble, and parties. Get some sun and relax on Vagator Beach.

Understanding your travel budget is vital.

The #1 reason for not traveling alone is fear. Money (or a lack of money) is probably your #2 excuse. Travel costs money – we get it. However, this depends on the context. There will be a surprising cost (in a good way) regardless of where you go when you stay or for how long you stay. Make sure to look for flight and train deals and let your timeframe work for you. However, you must first determine your budget.
Next, you can decide on where you would like to go based on your budget. You can also read about ways to save up for your solo trip if you need the motivation to stack high amounts of bills! There is no room for excuses here. Travel is our only belief.

Plan your trip and book your flight & accommodations

We know flying can be expensive, so if you’re looking for tips, we’ll advise you to board a train. If you book your flight ahead of time, you’ll feel much more confident and ready to go (especially if you have a non-refundable flight).
Choose a hotel next. Airbnb or a hotel are two popular choices. You might consider an Airbnb if you’d like a bit more space and a homey, homey feel. After a long day of sightseeing, you might prefer to rest comfortably in a king-sized bed, order room service, and watch a movie in a hotel.

Choose only 1-2 activities.

A few days of cramming all the activities into one is overwhelming and exhausting. Research a few things to see or do before going to the airport or railway station, and then just go with the flow. If you take time to enjoy a few things in a short period rather than a million things, you’ll enjoy and appreciate the activities and the trip more.
Let’s say you plan to set a voyage that soothes you like a mother’s hug. A beautiful hill town nestled among rolling peaks of the Eastern Himalayas, Darjeeling is called the ‘Queen of the Hills.’ Don’t think you have to fit all the things you want to see into one day, whether you’re going to a museum or taking a wine tour.

Making friends along the way

While solo travel offers an excellent sense of freedom, it can also leave you unable to chat with others for days on end. It may be nice, to begin with, but the peace eventually wears you down.

Visiting a nearby bar or restaurant or staying at a hostel are the best ways to meet new people while traveling. It’s hard to make friends when staying in hostels because people tend to be social types.

It is also possible to start a conversation through shared experiences. Get to know each other by asking a simple question about the arrival time or set time on a long-distance. You probably share some interests because of the line for a concert. Classes, tours, and lectures are no different and events. Because you are doing the same thing, so just start a conversation.

Last, keep an ear open for others who speak your language or have a similar accent. You can instantly break the ice with your compatriots by sharing their country of origin.

Solo travel poses one of the most significant challenges. Travel your heart out, pack your bags, and take a deep breath. It’s going to be great! It takes just one flight alone to make you addicted.

Are you planning a solo trip? When will you depart?
