Puttaparthi- religious town known for scenic beauty

Located at the banks of Chitravathi river, Puthapati is a very renowned religious city famous for one of the glorious temples and sculptures found here. Surrounded by undulating hills the breath-taking scenario here is cherished by thousands of pilgrims and tourists every year. The town is also famous as a pilgrim hub where Sri Sathya Sai Baba who was considered as the incarnation of Shirdi Sai Baba lived here.   1. Prasanthi Nilayam– This is the ashram of Sathya Sai Baba and literal translation of the name of the ashram is Adobe of the Highest Peace and many of his devotees visit this place. The construction of this majestic ashram took place for around 2 years and later on 23 November 1950 that is the 24th birthday of Sathya Sai Baba it was inaugurated. Many devotees come here for meditation and for visiting several temples here.
  2. Chaitanya jyoti museum– Tourists consider this museum as a great chance to know about Sathya Sai Baba in detail. The museum dedicated to him will let you know about the lifestyle and personality of Sathya Sai Baba and the entire museum is constructed by combining the styles of Indian, Chinese and Japanese architecture beautifully.
  3. Lord Dattatreya temple– Sathya Sai Baba built this majestic temple on Jan 13th, 1986 and the temple is dedicated to Lord Dattatreya. The main idol is placed under an audumbar tree and you will find nine gurus of Navnath Sampradaya surrounding it. The temple is constructed within Prasanthi Nilayam and the major reason to visit it is due to its pleasant atmosphere.
  4. Sathyabhama Temple– The temple is also renownedly known as Sathymma temple and is highly visited by many pilgrims. It was constructed by the grandfather of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Kondama Raju and near to this temple is the Hanuman temple. Several shrines dedicated to other Hindu gods like Lord Shiva and Lord Rama are present here. The small pool present inside the Lord Hanuman temple is said to be filled with the God’s tears and hence many tourists visit this place every year.
  5. Vata Vriksha or Meditation Tree– The Vata Vrishka is a banyan tree which is very close to the ashram and was planted by Sri Sathya Sai Baba. As the name goes the tree is a symbol of peace and meditation where all the devotees sit near it and meditate for peace and relaxation. While planting the tree Baba had a Yantra placed beneath it which is a copper plate. The tree was planted on 29th June 1959.
  6. Shivalayam: This is the birth place of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba and is considered to be very holy and religious by his devotees. Currently at this place Shivalyam that is Lord Shiva’s temple is constructed. Baba was born on a Karthika Somavara and as per the Hindu calendar and the day is devoted for worshipping Lord Shiva.
