The princely state was founded on 13th or 14th century by Rao Veravalji Vadher and is known for the ruins of Nawab heritage present here. Displaying the rich culture and historical significance of the region Veraval has some of the massive monuments, forts and other tourists’ spots are present here to explore. Also, the place has some famous temples like the Somnath temple which is hugely visited by so many worshippers and it is considered to be very religious on the sacred lands of Veraval.

  1. Prabhas Patan– The religious site is also known as Somnath Patan and this is where the majestic temple of Somnath is present in Veraval. Prabhas Patan is one of the most sacred lands considered by the worshippers who travel every year to Gujarat to visit the temples here. It includes Balaji temple, Saraswati temple and also there is an archaeological museum which display some of the historical ancient remains which was found in the former Somnath temple. Other places found here which is worth visitable is the beach of Somnath which is very much near to it and you can enjoy the amazing view here.
  2. The Somnath temple– As mentioned before the Somnath temple is the best spot to visit in Veraval as the religious temple is magnificent. The temple is the first among all the 12 jyotirlinga which are the temples constructed for dedicating it to Lord Shiva. The temple is built completely in Chaulukya style and intricate carvings are indeed notable. The construction of the temple took place many times as it was ruined over the years by the rulers who ruled the lands near Veraval. As the temple is located very close to city of Veraval, it is a must to visit the sacred land.
  3. The Gir National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary– The renowned wildlife sanctuary is the nearest to reach at from the place of Veraval and the forest covers a total area of 545 sq m. The park was established in 1965 and was constructed for saving some of the most endangered species in Asia including the Asiatic lions. There were in total 14 Asiatic lions in 2015 and if you are a wildlife lover then do visit the park. The national park is closed from June to October every year and do visit the region in the summers as the area looks remarkable with lush greenery covering the area.
  4. The Bhalka Tirtha– The pilgrimage site is present exactly where Lord Krishna left earth as he got shot by an arrow. The arrow was shot by a hunter named Jara and thus the place has a rich historical and also religious significance. The act that happened thousands of years before here is known as Shri Krishna Nijdham Prasthan Leela in all the religious inscriptions and puranas. The Bhalka Teerth is located very close to the Somnath temple and thus it is one of the most attracting spots for sure.
