Illinois is surrounded by the states of Wisconsin
Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, and Iowa to the north, east, and south, respectively.
As a bonus, the huge and beautiful Lake Michigan forms
its northern water boundary with the state of Michigan.
The Mississippi, Ohio, and Wabash rivers form parts of its boundaries
while much of it is rural, certain valleys, forests
hills do break up the monotony of the plains and prairies.
