Taliesin West was the winter home of a famed architect and is located on the foothills of the McDowell Mountains. 

Dobbins Lookout South Mountain is the highest point you can drive to, with an elevation of over 2,000 feet.

You may or may not know this, but Arizona has two relatively large wine regions less than 3 hours away from Phoenix. 

Phoenix Mountain Parks has a lot of beautiful cacti and desert plants throughout and after the spring rains. 

The Phoenix area is really popular for golfers and there are an astounding 200 golf courses in the Phoenix metro area. 

Tempe, Mill Ave, and Tempe Beach Park have a lot of interesting boutique shops and great restaurants.
