Founded by Rao Hamir in 1510, Bhuj is now a very renowned tourist spot of Gujarat because of the rich history of the place and some of the huge, beautiful and remarkable architectures built here. From some beautiful beaches to some ancient places and from some ancient temples to breath-taking sanctuaries the beautiful city of Bhuj is filled with varieties of tourists attracting places that is hard to choose from. So here are some of the best places to visit in Bhuj-
- The White Desert– The vast pure white salt desert is well renowned for the beauty of River Indus and the beach stretches to gulf of Kutch. The place is considered to be the world’s largest salt desert and the majestic landscape attracts many tourists for sure. The place is also famous for being a mostly used film location and the surrounding sanctuaries and wetland just adds more shine to the entire location. So, if you ever like to spend a nice sunny day with soft sand of the beach and cool temperature then this is the perfect place to you.
- The Kutch Desert Wildlife Sanctuary– The sanctuary is located 100 km away from the main city of Bhuj and the vast sanctuary is around 7505.22 sq. km. The place is renowned for different fossils found here and also a 5000-year-old Harappan civilisation near the Kutch Desert Wildlife Sanctuary was found. The place again is famous for its unique white surface due to the deposits of salt. Well, some parts of the sanctuary are not allowed to be entered as it lies in the Indo-Pak border.
- The Shri Swaminarayan Temple– The majestic temple was built on 1822 and was the first of the Sampradey Swaminarayan temples ever made. After the earthquake which occurred in 2001 a new temple was reconstructed and many idols got replaced. The pure white beautiful structure and architecture of the temple attracts thousands of devotees every year and is a must to visit for sure.
- Prag Mahal– The beautiful masterpiece was built in 19th century and it is located in the centre of the city so it gets easy to reach here. The Corinthian pillars and the vast clock tower give a breath-taking view. The remarkable structure has a part which is changed in to a museum now and it has several items that belonged to the royal families. You can give a look at the royal things and the beautiful palace us made of red sandstone which again makes it very attractive. The awesome intricate carvings do give the Mahal a very traditional look and you will also find several paintings around here.
- The Kutch Fossil Park– The park was created by Mohan Singh Sodha in 2002. The Army Veteran was a fossil collector and after working hard for almost half a century he made this museum with the best collection. There are fossils of animals, gems, dinosaur’s egg, and several artefacts. The museum is very fun place to visit for sure and is a great place to spend a day.
