Where is Lake Glacier, and what is the route? 

The trek can start from Triund, you can enjoy the stunning views throughout the route till Lake Glacier. However, if you want, you can start your journey from Dharamshala before the trek to enjoy and relax before the trek. 

Triund is located near Mcleodganj situated  9500 ft above sea level, the top view from Triund is something you will never forget. You can start your trek from base to Triund, then from Triund to Laka Glacier. You can start from Dharamshala or Meclodgunj.

What is the itinerary of the Lake Glacier trek?  

The 2 or 3-day trek will be perfect for your short holiday destination, you can start and end your trek as follows: 

Day 1: The trek to Lake Glacier will start from Mcleodganj, you will pass from the road through the village of Dharamkot, explore their markets and enjoy a calming environment. The road will end at Galu Devi temple and stunning oak trees and location will begin from where you are going to start your trek to Triund of 8 km. Stay overnight at Triund and enjoy the stars, have dinner and explore beautiful surroundings. Triund trek is one of the most popular and shortest ones, many people trek to Triund and go back. You will stay here for the night in tents if your group wants you to enjoy a bonfire. 

Day 2: Wake up in clouds and enjoy freshly prepared chai and breakfast. From here you will walk/ trek for 40 minutes to reach the popular Snowline café. From here, the trek will descend to grounds known as Laka Got. Enjoy the panoramic views of Himalayan ranges, and breathtaking greenery. From here you will steep for a few kilometers to reach Glaciers, spend your lime here. Enjoy the view and click pictures. The stunning lake Glacier views will take all your tiredness away. As the sun starts to come down, you will trek back to Triund. Here you will spend another night, if the weather is great you can enjoy a bonfire and dinner. 

Day 3-  wake up in clouds and the beautiful backdrop of mountains, enjoy your tea and move back to Mcleodganj. Now is your time to explore the beautiful city and markets, to learn more about places. 

What can you expect in the trekking package?

 The trekking package to Lake Glacier will include your accommodation, food, and tour guide that will help you reach your destination. Some packages include road trips in the city and some not, depending on what you want, you can book for your group. However, a few things that you need to take care of are – listen to instructions of the tour guide carefully, the trek is not suitable for children below 12, so don’t allow them, know about all the essentials of trekking if it’s your first time. 

What are the essentials of trekking? 

If you are a first time trekker, you need to know a few things and pack essentials: 

  • Make sure you wear good sports shoes, don’t try any other footwear. 
  • Wear comfortable clothing, if you are even slightly uncomfortable, do not wear it. Try to wear cotton t-shirts. 
  • Weather in the mountains is unpredictable, so carry raincoats and essential items. 
  • Must have essentials – power bank, battery, torch, extra pair of clothes and shoes. 
  • Sun can be harsh sometimes, so wear a good sunblock. 
  • Trekking can drain your energy, you need to stay hydrated so bring a water bottle, Glucose, and some snacks like energy bites, dry fruits. However, pack these in limits, otherwise you’ll find it difficult to carry them during the trek.
